In spite of their huge size, Flemish Giant rabbits are very docile and quiet creatures, generally speaking. They also don't run around and jump as much as the smaller breeds, preferring to laze around most of the time. For this reason, Flemish Giants can actually be better pets for children than some of the mini breeds, which are much less friendly and which are prone to nipping and biting.
How Big Will It Get?
If you get a Flemish Giant rabbit, you are looking at getting a bunny that will weigh around 6kg by the time it is nine months old. It could quite easily grow larger than 9kg!
My breeding does are a minimum of 5.5kg when bred for the first time and my does Mature 6+kg in a healthy condition (not over weight), and my bucks are only just over 12months old and they are 6+kg, i believe they way the bunny is housed and fed has a lot to do with how big they will grow i have had reports from happy customers that my rabbits have matured well over 6kg but i aim for them to mature at a minimum of 6kg if cared for and fed correctly during the first 12months of life.
All my rabbits are vaccinated for calici virus and all the baby bunnies are protected against calici virus up till 12 weeks of age then they will need to be vaccinated themselves by your local vet to continue to be protected.
My kits and breeding stock are provided with free access to rabbit pellets and fresh water at all times during my care and the kits are wormed, given a multi vitamin injection and tattooed permanently in their ear with our stud brand DZP at weaning time.
best way to contact me is via email email@example.com
that way i can email you photos and information on the babies
Giant rabbits do make GREAT pets as they are easier to handle than most smaller rabbits and many of the buck bunnies i sell go to city homes where they live inside and trained to use a litter tray like a cat
Desexed Males/Bucks are best suited as pets as the females tend to be more territorial and can be aggressive when they reach maturity! But i do have certain does that will produce females that could be suitable as pets.
Giant rabbits do make GREAT pets as they are easier to handle than most smaller rabbits and many of the buck bunnies i sell go to city homes where they live inside and trained to use a litter tray like a cat or they are let to roam free in their enclosed backyard.
BUT also for the productive hobby/farmer they are great to eat!
I can make Breeding pairs or trio's out of what i have available as i do have different lines i breed from.
